Consider Jesus Christ

We can never be sure what will cause us to take some valuable time to consider carefully who Jesus Christ is. Most of us know that He is the person that Christianity has been founded upon. Christians claim that the Bible reveals that He is the Son of God and the Savior of the world. With such claims it would be an excellent idea to take some time to evaluate them.

The writer of the book of Hebrews which is found in the New Testament offers the following words of encouragement: "Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus, who was faithful to Him who appointed Him" (Heb. 3:1,2a). We are all asked to consider Jesus Christ.

People who consider Jesus and accept His claims and the claims of His followers become partakers of a heavenly calling. That is believers become followers of God and His Son. They are children of God who are guided by the Holy Spirit. They have been called to a kingdom that is not of this world. Christians have and continue to confess Jesus as the Apostle who was sent to them. They know He is their High Priest who is in heaven.

What are some great truths that we should consider about Jesus Christ? The Hebrew writer tells us that God has spoken to us through Him. Jesus has been appointed heir of all things. God has made the worlds through Him (1:2). Jesus is the brightness of God's glory and the express image of His person. Jesus upholds all things by the word of His power. Jesus purged our sins and sits at the right hand of the Majesty on high (1:3).

Also, Jesus is much better than the angels as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they (1:4). The Father of heaven said to Jesus, "You are My Son, today I have begotten You," and "I will be to Him a Father and He shall be to Me a Son" (1:5; Ps. 2:7; II Sam. 7:14). God said to His Son, Jesus, "Let all the angels of God worship Him" (1:6; Ps. 97:3). The Father says of Jesus, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore God, Your God has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions" (1:8,9; Psalm 45:6,7; Isaiah 61:1,3).

Jesus Christ was faithful to His Father. Jesus is faithful "over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end" (3:6). Consider Jesus carefully, see clearly who He is, then hold fast to Him as your Savior! Ron
