Our Savior Understands Our Weaknesses

We are blessed to have a Savior who understands our weaknesses. Jesus became like us! He came into this world as a flesh and blood human being. He was tested in the flesh, yet without sin. How wonderful to have a Mediator, an Advocate, a High Priest, a King, and a Savior who truly cares about us and continually intercedes for us before the Father of heaven! (Hebrews 2:14-18; 4:14-16)

The challenges of life place great temptations before us. Sadly, we hear of brethren giving in to those temptations, and we have personally failed in our faithfulness. God wants us to know there is hope and that we can overcome the trials and temptations of life. Jesus Christ is our way out of sin. He provides a way to escape the snares of the devil.

The Hebrew writer particularly addressed remaining faithful to Christ, and not turning back to the Old Testament Law, and the traditions of the fathers. The warnings expressed are very sobering consider carefully: "Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called, ‘Today,' lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end..." (Heb. 3:12-14, NKJV)!

Just as clearly and pointedly does God give hope of salvation: "Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession, for we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need" (Heb. 4:14-16)!

God knows we are weak and we sin. He calls us to confession and repentance and a clear conscience. He wants faithfulness from an obedient heart. Truly, we are a blessed people in Christ! Ron Drumm
