Dear Brethren:
Greetings to all and may the Lord bless each of you as He sees fit. I am sorry that this report is so late getting to you, but our Internet access went down on the 1st November and the phone company did not get it fixed until today the 10th November. We are still without a house phone, but hope this will be repaired today.
PRETORIA:
It is good to be able to report that one of our erring brethren has again started attending worship services. Unfortunately he has not made things right with the Lord, but I have spoken to him and hopefully he will take this step in the very near future. Sadly to say there is another brother with a great deal of Bible knowledge who has stopped attending. All of our efforts to contact him have been in vain. We are not giving up, but if we are unsuccessful we will have to resort to disciplinary measures.
Other than that things are very encouraging. We still have to find a new meeting place by the end of this year and this is proving very difficult. Please keep our efforts here in your prayers.
Brother Funzani one of the young men in my Saturday class was in charge of the Lord’s Table for the first time this past Sunday – the 26th October and he did a very good job. He is to present a ten to fifteen minute talk about himself in Saturday’s class. I use this method as a starting point for preaching as it is harder than most people think to speak about yourself for ten to fifteen minutes without repetition. I believe that if this young man keeps studying and working as hard as he is now he will make a good preacher. He should preach his first lesson in class in about two weeks, and depending on how he does, we will add him to the Pretoria preaching roster.
The little children’s classes continue to show progress as the children learn more songs and Bible stories. Sister Sharon the young lady teaching the class with Pearl present should be ready to take over in the near future. After we get our new meeting place we hope to be able to start another little older class for the children. Here again Pearl will take the lead in preparing the sisters to teach this age group.
As mentioned in our last report we are also looking forward to John Cripps’ visit in March of next year. Pearl told me that John is very good at teacher training and we hope to have a number of classes arranged so he can help the old and new teachers better prepare themselves to do more in the Lords kingdom. We already have all of John’s Sundays filled with preaching appointments and several week day classes are in the process of being set up. We will be making a trip to Durban where he will hold a Gospel meeting and if possible some special teacher training classes.
RANDPARK RIDGE:
As reported last month this work is moving along rather slowly. We will have a visiting preacher here next Sunday – November 2nd. We try to use as many men from other congregations in the area not only to encourage them, but us as well.
We are hoping to have some short leaflets about the church to pass out around the first of the year. If you have any leaflets you are using or have used for this purpose, could you send us a copy either by mail or preferably E-mail as it would prove helpful in making ours.
Well this about takes care of our news for this month. We are experiencing rather warm weather now but the rain has helped cool things down a bit. We understand from our daughter in Bakersville that they have already had their first snow. It sounds as if you will be having a very cold year.
In closing Pearl and I want to say thank you for your support and prayers. May the Lord cause His blessings to shine upon you and yours.
In Christian Love
